NAMSCON 2026, the 66th annual conference and convocation of the National Academy of Medical Sciences (India), will bring together medical professionals, researchers and academicians from across the country in Chennai from October 8 to 11.

Hosted by SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Kattankulathur, the conference will focus on the theme ‘Synergy of Science and Technology in Healthcare for a Healthier Tomorrow’.

Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar will inaugurate the conference as the chief guest.

The four-day programme will include pre-conference workshops, symposia, keynote addresses, National CME sessions, and oral and poster presentations.

The scientific sessions will cover antimicrobial resistance, CAR-T cell therapy, biosimilars and biologics, senolytic therapies, rare genetic disorders, emerging infections, pandemic preparedness and the Indian diabetes phenotype. Discussions will also focus on medical education, robotics in surgery, organ donation and transplantation, and evolving approaches to tuberculosis management.

Eight workshops on October 8 will cover trauma care, neonatal resuscitation, AI in clinical research, spine surgery, endoscopic gastroenterology, palliative care, diagnostic reasoning, and physician entrepreneurship.

Among the speakers are Shekar C. Mande, president, Indian National Science Academy; Abhijat Sheth, Chairman, National Medical Commission; Mohan V., Chairman, Dr. Mohan’s Diabetes Specialities Centre, Chennai; Mohan Kameswaran, Managing Director and Senior Consultant, Madras ENT Research Foundation; Vivekanand Jha, Executive Director, The George Institute of Global Health, India; and Gobardhan Das, Member, NITI Aayog.

M. Srinivas, member (Health), NITI Aayog, will deliver a plenary lecture on ‘Good Governance for Transforming Medical Institutions in India and Quality Research during Residency’. He will also interact with undergraduate and postgraduate students on research during residency.

Founded in 1961, NAMS is a non-statutory body that advises the Government of India on health policy and planning. NAMSCON 2026 will be the first annual conference of NAMS to be hosted by SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre.

The conference is being organised under the leadership of R. Jayanthi, Organising Chairperson and Dean, SRM MCH&RC, and Melvin George, Organising Secretary and Head, Centre for Clinical Pharmacology and Clinical Trials Research, with Rajarajan Swaminathan as State Convenor.
